I started writing this blog in August 2008. Nearly two years and 500+ posts later, a lot has changed – but on many levels, many things remain the same.
We saw Lehman Brothers fail, watched massive government spending in the form of TARP, bailouts and stimulus, and endured massive unemployment.
Sadly, unemployment is still sky-high – and it’s pretty clear that the economy (and therefore the job market) are languishing.
The singers who’ve been waiting in the wings to break into a chorus of “Happy Days Are Here Again” are still cooling their heels.
It ain’t over.
If you’ve read this for any length of time, one lesson I hope you’ve taken away is the fact that your career is your responsibility. It’s up to you to chart your professional course, and it’s up to you to create your own opportunities – not Washington, not your boss, not some guy in a white hat riding in to save the day.
And that’s okay.
You’re the one you can count on to always have your best interests at heart.
You’re in the best position to create opportunities for yourself.
You are the guy or gal in the white hat…and you will save the day.
As I retire this blog, I thank you for reading – and hope you’ve been able to take away some useful information.
Here’s to your success!
